THE GIFT

img_1190

BREAKING DOWN THE VERSE1

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Let us explore the verse Romans 6:23

First let us break down this verse to fully get the gist. For the wages of sin is death what exactly is St. Paul through the Holy Spirit conveying to us.

Wages are what we earn from what we labor or to put it plainly I get what I work for or deserve.

As humans we are fallible, we make mistakes, we do wrong, we sin daily that is our labor and it is daily. We are born into sin we are sin and our wage what we earn for that sin is death.

God measures equates this sin as death, from day one when humanity disobeyed God Adam and Eve earned death and such that labor and wage was passed on to us and we can do nothing to earn more or less to reverse this wage because we fail to obey God daily.

Now that I have depressed everyone let us continue on with the rest of the verse.

But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus or Lord. Here St. Paul points out that eternal life (something we can never qualify or earn) is given to us for free. We cannot afford this gift, we can never work hard enough or do enough to have eternal life because that requires a sinless life.

The gift is free thus the word (Grace) only through Jesus or Lord, nothing else on earth or in us can equal what Jesus has done for us. Romans 3:20-24 ( For by works of the law no human being[a] will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus)

What does this mean for you and me in this day and time especially in a world that wraps itself in relative notions of what only applies to myself.

St. Paul through the inspired word of the Holy Spirit and I say this so you know this is not just opinions written by a mere man but by a man inspired by the words of God. Paul is saying only Jesus can give you eternal life, only Jesus can justify this grace and that is what we can apply to our lives; only through Jesus alone can we can be saved. It is the Holy Spirit that draws us near to Christ (Jesus) and it is only through him alone that we can know and receive this Grace his free gift.

Now a note from our commentary deters us from thinking that a free gift of Grace given to a person who is a sinner that does not deserve salvation is not a free pass to continue to sin.

A truly saved individual loathes sin and desires to obey God and to follow his commandments. By no means is the doctrine of Grace a reason to continue to sin in small ways or big ways 1 John 3:9 (No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.).

Repentance is always needed, we will always sin but that does not give us the justification to sweep sin aside knowing that God will give us a pass Romans 6:12-13 (Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.).

Final thoughts we should never forget who we are (sinners) even though God has saved through his son Jesus we should not forget we did not nothing to earn this salvation, it was a debt paid, it was Jesus taking our place in death so we would not have to. Our bodies will someday end but our soul is forever and forever we will be with our Lord Jesus.

AN EFFECTIVE BELIEF

39

Watching RZIM’s The Apologist a few nights ago, where they had two Christians and two atheists debating on why they believed what they believed.

Both of the RZIM apologist where former nonbelievers meaning they did not grow up in a home that taught Christianity and it made me think that former atheist or none believers seem to make really good tactical apologist meaning they defend Christianity sometimes better than Christians that grow up in a Christian home.

I’m a part of this group that grew up Christian and I’ve had to check myself and my belief and understanding of God and the nature of God and I can say growing up I was a miserable failure in defending Christianity and the fact growing up in a small down in Northern California made it that much worse

As I got older I needed to ask myself the hard questions and show evidence of why I believed what I did and this is where people that believe in God but are not grounded or have a good foundation lose the conversation when asked to show the evidence or tell why they believe and then give a coherent answer that can be understood.

Going to the Scriptures we can get a small view of this when reading 1 Peter 3:15: but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. This requires us to do more than just say I believe in God it ask us to have an answer and how we go about answering the question.

Parents that believe in God beyond just believing in a deity need to know the how and why of God because it becomes their responsibility to teach this to their Children.

If you cannot communicate or answer why you believe then how can you yourself understand what you hold to be truth?

If I ask you why are you a Christian can you give me a good answer, if I ask you do you think you are going to heaven can you give me a good answer, if I ask you if I don’t believe in what you believe why is that wrong and will I go to heaven; can you give me a good and true Biblical answer?

These are question that we should be asking ourselves and our children. Don’t think your six year old child cannot give you a good answer if you have taught them well.

To think I’ll just drop them off at Sunday school or youth group and hope for the best is like throwing them in water and hoping they learn to swim, some will some wont maybe if you give them lessons they will learn for sure.

I feel the reason why non believers tend to give better answers is because they are new to the game and if they are serious about their conversion they tend to dive into the word deeper than people that grow up in a Christian home.

I am for one guilty of growing up in a Christian home and taking for granted that God gave me grace, I had the faith but I lacked the understanding of his nature and my nature making me ineffective as a believer to a nonbeliever.

I only bring this up because I hate to see people struggle with understanding the scriptures and being so ineffective in their belief. The most concerning is that these same people now have Children and they too become ineffective witnesses of Jesus and some even get completely lost.

I urge you if you are a believer in God, if you are a believer that Jesus is the son of God that the scriptures are the breathed word of God to then build a knowledge of understanding God. Build a defense of your faith in Jesus for others to know. The cost is time, effort and sometimes friends but the payoff is knowing who God is and how much he really loves you that he would extend his grace to you no matter who you are.

Romans 12:2

FALSE TEACHERISM 3 MORMONS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS

2

The above photo statement shows us two things that make Mormonism a false teaching. As we can see Mormons face similar issues that Christians do, they are  misunderstood that they hate people or they shove their religion down people’s throat but make no mistake Mormons do not worship the same God as Christians do.

First, Mormonism and Christianity are not compatible  because they do not worship the same God nor do the view God and Jesus the same as Christianity does. God was never just a man that grew into a God and no they will never become God or like God like Mormonism teaches.

Christianity’s view is that we were not put on this earth so as to earn ourselves to be worthy to return to God in heaven.Christians know we are not and never will be worthy in the site of God on our own merit. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

We are put here on this earth to worship God, God alone, we follow Christ alone and the scriptures in the Holy Bible are the Holy word that is the breathed word of God and is sufficient for us alone.

Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith as this rightly points out but they rely on the Book of Mormons that was deciphered by Smith.

Christians would view the book of Mormons as a adding to the words of God and that is expressly forbidden. Genesis 3:1-3 Satan temps Eve and adds to the words of God thus killing all mankind as Adam sins against God by believing Satan’s words. Deuteronomy 4:2 “You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Revelation 22:18-19 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

As Christians we need to pray for our brother and sister that are in the Mormon faith, these are good people that hold true to moral and ethical codes. We cannot agree that we are both Christians because we follow the teachings and understandings of a different God, we can both be wrong but we cannot both be right.

When we see and have conversations with our Mormon friends we need to understand them, know them and pray for them. Show them they do not worship the same God as in the Holy Bible and aid them to understanding why Christianity is different from Mormonism. 1 Peter 3:15

THE EASY WAY

31

Time to go to war with Islam or with those evil sects that Islam breads”, this is the easy way for people, heads of states and leaders of countries to say yet most never attempt.

It’s a complete symptom of when people and  countries that deny God in order to maintain that it is fair and just for everyone all the while allowing sects of religions and beliefs that has no real regard to humanity just its own to grow and live unassimilated and in contempt of lives and countries that all the while have taken them in, fed them and protected them.

The easy way out is “let’s go to war” but how many times has mankind done this. How may people have shed blood over and over to beat back evil but never confront and deal with evil.

Because if they confront one form of evil they will have to eventually confront another from, a form that is much closer to home. A form of evil they themselves have taken in, fed and protected all the while that evil has had no regard for them and their families and is in contempt of their lives, their states and their countries

The hard way that few, if any want to try will requires people to admit secularism, humanism and naturalism and all the idols of their personal lives have failed. The hard way is for people to say “it’s time we repent” and start converting them to follow Jesus.

Romans 14:11 or it is written,“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

RED LETTER HYPOCRISY

30

Reading a post from the Red Letter Christians today and you would assume the name Red Letter would mean Jesus’ words alone, but you would be quite wrong if you did.

The article was on a protester that protested the Trump Chicago rally because in their mind Trump is a racist. Why, because Trump in the past has called people names and wants to build a boarder.

Now mind you I’m not a Trump supporter, I have a different candidate that I am supporting but this is not the point.

Tony Campolo and his Red Letters don’t see the hypocrisy in all this as a matter of fact they publish the hypocrisy.

What is the hypocrisy, it is that one can protest a candidate because they don’t like them. Let’s call him a racist because he shoots his mouth off now and again but nothing about why Biblically one needs to disrupt presidential rally.

Never mind the candidate supports abortion, has no clue of what it means to be a true Christian, has no intentions and will not repent of any violations of God moral code even though he believes to be a Christian and this from a group that insist they follow the words of Jesus.

The second hypocrisy is the protester makes it plain that Trump is the target based on he called people names making him a racist. Let’s forget that two candidates Bernie Sanders and Hilary Clinton have promised abortion on demand be the main stay law of the land if elected. There will be no protection for the unborn with a democratic candidate with both candidates in clear violation of the 6th and 8th commandments but I guess red letters don’t agree those are worth protesting.

Amazing how progressive Christians won’t see truth because it clouds their agenda. True sin in the mind of a liberal Christian is negative emotions; it is symbolism over substance something well defined in the Red Letter Christian.

A COMMON SYMPTOM, STATEMENT 1

27

A COMMON SYMPTOM ( 10 statements unbelievers don’t believe about the Bible)

The other day a blog popped up  focusing on 10 statements that this Christian (this being the writer of the blog) does not believe about the Bible on one of the Christian Blogger feeds, what sparked my attention was that the blogger known for his liberal stand in Christianity. Further reading one can come to the conclusion that if this person was a Bible believing Christian this blog would be considered heresy.

Why I’m writing this blog is not to tear down this blogger but to show the lack of understanding of Christianity and what it means to follow Jesus and to show these statements are nothing new but a common symptom of  people that truely do not either believe or understand The God of the Bible and and or what it means to be a Christian.

Whether you are a non believer or a believer that is on the theological fence of Christianity I would like to contrast what our blogger here has written and show what Christians know to be true. Feel free to read the article for yourself to decide where you stand on the faith and words of Jesus Christ, God, the Holy Spirit and the faith of Christianity.

Because these statements are common in today’s world view I will take each statement as its own otherwise this can become a long drawn out blog so in order to keep your attention we will focus one statement at a time and this is statement 1

I don’t believe the Bible was dictated by God. The sixty-six books comprising the Bible were composed by flawed, imperfect, emotional, very human beings who never claim to have been fully possessed by God or robbed of their faculties as they wrote. This means that however virtuous or well-meaning or inspired they might have been, they can’t help but have brought some of themselves into the writing.”

This is a common belief by non believers and a belief by what we call “so called Christians”, liberal Christians and Universalist. 2nd Timothy 3:16 squashes this idea “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”

If a person argues the Bible is not true and that goes for historical and scientific evidence then the argument is over because that kind of logic then must be taken for all books written on history or science, philosophy then become the only thing we can trust. You will find it hard to have a conversation with someone that does not believe the Bible is based on real event no matter how historically accurate it is.

Throwing the historical and scientific evidence aside we as Christians must believe beyond historical and scientific evidence. We must believe the Gospel is the inspired word of God, all 66 books are by God and point to Jesus and that is our faith that justifies us for his Grace.

If the Bible is true then it is all true otherwise it is all a lie. You cannot say “well some of it is true based on the historical documents” but the rest is hocus pocus. If you take that route you then have to define what is real and what is not, all historical and scientific references are real but the rest is well interpretation.

You now are going on a cherry picking search for evidence that only satisfies you and your own morality; the Bible then becomes useless and offers no real good substance for anyone but only what I need for my wants and needs and makes my arguments valid.

If we are going to take the Bible, the scriptures as the sole word of God as it is intended then we must answer this statement based on the sole authority of the scripture and not just ones opinion or good thoughts.

The statement above rejects the Bible as being the sole authority of the scriptures being the word of God and if you take that line of thinking then the rest of the statements that I will go over will easily make sense to anybody because the above statement is saying yes there might be a God but the Bible is not his only word so you cannot trust it alone.

Exodus 31:18 says God not only spoke with Moses but used his finger to write the 10 commandments. Are we to believe Moses just made up the commandments used his own thoughts of what they the 10 Commandment should be, can you see the absurdity to this.

With that logic anyone could rewrite or add to the basics of these commandments. When we stop and say “the Bible is not inspired” or “the Bible is not the word of God” then that person has to ask what is the Bible for? Good thoughts and inspiration?

Christians that believe this sort of theology normally enjoy the words of Jesus and few will attack his word but you cannot then say “the Bible is not the inspired word of God” without making the statement Jesus is not God. When you say or think the Bible is not the sole word of God you then attack the word of God. When you attack God you attack the Holy Spirit and when you attack the Holy Spirit you attack Jesus; if you attack one part of God you attack all three persons of God.

In John 14: 1-14 Jesus is saying if you see him you see the father (God). What was John adding to this verse. Was he repeating what Jesus actually said or was John trying to add or advance  his own wants and needs to this verse so it reads Jesus is God. If we are to believe John added his own thoughts and not the inspired words of the Holy Spirit then we have to question was Jesus God; something non believers want to be questioned.

2nd Peter 1:16 “For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty”

For a person to think the Bible is not inspired by God is a person that does not believe in God nor do they believe in Jesus as the Son of God. Peter is saying we the disciples  witnessed everything, if we are to believe Peter is making some of this up or adding his own biases and is not inspired solely by God then 2nd Peter is a fraud, correct?

Romans 1: 1-4  Paul, a servant[a] of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David[b] according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord

Paul declares Jesus to be the messiah, Paul declares Jesus to be God, so if we are to believe this is not inspired but just Paul’s own thoughts and biases then Jesus cannot be God based on any of the New Testament writers.

The New Testament becomes a feel good book based on good philosophy and warm thoughts. Jesus death  was all symbolism and Steven died for nothing.

As we can see Paul validates Peter who validates John who validates Moses.

The statement above allows one to have his or hers own view on God, morality, right and wrong. The Bible is merely a yard stick to measure your own ideas. As long as they don’t hurt anyone we can use any good book that teaches right and wrong. Problem is where did those books get right from wrong and who said those right and wrongs are indeed right and wrong.

The above statement is a world view, not a Biblical or Godly world view. It allows you to turn away from God and view anything as good or bad. The above statement is saying the Bible is not “The Word of God”. This is a concept of a deity based belief that a God created the world in some way now it is up to us to figure it out. We can use Jesus, Buddah, or eastern religion to sort out things out.

COEXIST CAN ONLY CONTRADICT

15

You run across one of these stickers probably once a week on somebody’s Prius, most likely it’s a hippie or a sharp leftist but do you wonder is it possible to truly coexist with everyone and do these people really know what they are demanding.

Next to every “coexist” sticker should be a sticker that says “contradict”. Each belief contradicts the others belief making coexistence impossible.

Each belief demands exclusivity to that belief and that belief alone. Islam demands Allah is the only God, Jews their God is the only God, Hindi has many Gods but their belief of reincarnation is a must. Atheist demand naturalism and science is the only truth.

There is contradiction with all these beliefs so who do you follow, who will you give your life to?

Atheists believe there has to be proof to be something, seeing is believing. Yet no one has seen large scale evolution, no one has seen a big bang creating life out of nothing. Gravity just exists, no why or how it just exists. DNA is magic per Richard Dawkins but wait is not magic something that cannot be seen or understood?

Buddha was a Hindu that believed there was more; he abandoned the core beliefs of Hinduism and ended up mixing atheism with reincarnation. One has to die and die again to obtain nirvana a complete blowout of the mind where one ceases to exist there is no God.

Christians and Jews believe in a one true God but unlike Jews Christians believe the one true God sent his son Jesus to die for us so that we would be worthy. That through his death God now gives us salvation by his grace alone. John 14:6  and Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved”.

COEXIST is either a complete insult or complete ignorance by one that is reaching for an end to free thought. COEXIST is not new it is the same exclusivity in the idea that no one is correct that there is no truth.

Without truth your ideas are invalid to my ideas, making the ability to truly coexist is impossible.

YOU CAN’T HAVE GOD’S LOVE WITH YOUR HATE

image

Denzel Washington was the focus of a story in a Charisma Magazine article as he spoke at a graduation ceremony in which he stated “it is impossible to be grateful and hateful at the same time.”

Or is it, I completely understand what Mr. Washington gist was but he failed to see the full idea of his quote and that without Jesus one can be grateful for some and hateful for most.

It is possible to be grateful and hateful at the same time. Hitler, Stalin and Mao Zedong were grateful to be tyrants, grateful to be raciest and grateful to squander other peoples money yet hateful enough to take the lives of millions, to have contempt of God and human life.

As a professed Christian it is impossible to love God with all your heart and mind and still be hateful to your neighbor.

A Christian cannot balance the two, a person that does this is lying to oneself and to God and most importantly is failing the two commandments set by Jesus. Matthew 22: 37-40

A non Christian cannot show biblical gratefulness and practice hatefulness without being morally bankrupt. Just like trying to serve two masters eventually you will bow down to one master then look away or kill the other.

Without the exclusivity of Jesus Christ and our unconditional love to him we cannot truly love our neighbor. We cannot understand true love without truly loving God first.

WILL NOT BOW

14

Reading a blog just the other day from a liberal Christian blogger who felt that today’s church needs to bow down to the world and apologize to the LGBTQ society for I’m guessing not occluding them.

This poses a few questions from me, what church is there certain denomination? Is it any evangelical church, Roman or charismatic Catholics, Eastern Orthodox churches could you put Orthodox Jewish Synagogue’s as well. Is it the pastor that needs to apologize, the elders, the congregation because that is the church you and I are the church.

Let us just assume our blogger is pointing the finger to any church that refused to bow down to practicing the LGBTQ lifestyle within the confines of the church and Christianity. Christians are not to judge the outside of the church, 1 Corinthians 5: 12-13 (the world). God will and with that Christians do not owe the world an apology for standing with the word of God. The Church does not owe those outside of it an apology for not compromising with an amoral society that does not follow The God of the Bible.

But do we owe the LGBTQ society inside the church an apology for not compromising with their behavior? There really is not much difference sin wise when a person that deals with same sex attraction as does a person that is dealing with sexual addiction of the opposite sex. People have their vices but what separates the believer from the non believer is the continuing hunger to strive for God’s obedience.

People that believe obey and people that obey believe to paraphrase Dietrich Bonhoeffer, repentance is part of obeying God’s word. A question to our blogger is where in the Gospel does God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit condone and promote the LGBTQ lifestyle?

We are not stating when and where do we stop loving somebody for practicing a lifestyle outside of Biblical principles but do we condone, do we promote and do we except it as part of Christian life and in the church? Same sex attraction can be accommodated in the Christian church just as sex addiction, drug addiction, lying and idolatry but it cannot be practiced, condoned or promoted.

The accommodation comes in the form of love understanding and help to overcome the sin, not to hatefully judge but to lovingly support and work with the individuals in their healing.

Maybe it’s the other way around maybe LGBTQ crowed need to apologize to the church for not identifying with Jesus and his teachings and not being sensitive to the church and what the church is commanded to follow. What is the identity of a person or group that does not put God first and follow Jesus and his teaching both old and New Testament?

If the church needs to apologize it should be the church that has compromised with the world to Christians for leading them from the Gospel. A church that conveniently overlooks God and his moral law for fear of alienating people is no church but just a body of people that have religion but no God.

CAUTION BAD PEOPLE IN HELL

unnamed

It’s interesting to me how now doctrines and theology constantly debate on how bad or not so bad hell will be.
We have doctrine that uses a annihilation that those going to hell will just stop being, Satan will bear the sins and those who do believe in Christ; where that is scripture I have no clue.

I get it Hell is scary, I saw a blog from a fellow Christian blogger that wanted Christians to stop scaring the hell out of people, is that opposite of let us put hell in people nicely?

The meme that goes if you need the threat of eternal torture to be a good person you are not a good person has validity to it and I would agree humans are not good, it takes God to be good.

Realistically when was the last time you heard your pastor preach on hell, when was the last time you heard a megachurch pastor preach on hell. When was the last time you attended a Biblestudy that studied hell. I have rarely heard any pastor or church leader spend much time on the subject of hell but every liberal Christian seems to think it happens way too much and is afraid it will scare the unbeliever away.

Openbible.info counts about 100 references on hell in the ESV translation of the Holy Bible. So hell is in the scriptures it does exsist and it is a part of our lives whether we want it or not.

In Matthew Jesus talks or uses hell 17 times, and describes it 8 times as being a furnace of fire and weeping and gnashing of teeth, eternal torture.

So why are some churches and Christians afraid to talk about hell maybe the same reason they want people to stop judging and have some tolerance for sin.

Not sure about you but you but hell scares me strait, yes I sin daily but daily I repent. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Now I’m not saying that the message of hell should be the focal point of the Gospel. Salvation and Gods free gift of grace that he gives us is always the front and center subject to new believers but we ought not to leave hell out of the full message.

Understanding why God created hell and why he sent his son Jesus is important to know and understand. As a believer hell never inters my mind, getting closer to Jesus and trying to share that faith with others is always my intentions.

The unbeliever on the other hand knows there is a God, they might try and convince themselves there is no God but it is written on their hearts there is a God but even with that the heart can deny the mind. One wonders why Jesus talked about hell if it was not an important part of knowing God personally.

We can only conjecture why God created a hell but scriptures states it is real, Jesus talks about the realness of hell and the Holy Spirit continues to talk about it in the New Testament. Hell is real and I believe we are doing a disservice to our fellow man by just pushing it under the carpet like it was a bad dream.
