Some of us out here in the west may feel the lasted issue with the confederate flag banning to be small but I don’t feel it is. There is more here and southern life is being touted down this is not a good thing.
It holds a larger meaning to both the people who live and love there states along with southern pride and concept of common sense is being trampled on in the name of emotional symbolism.
The symbolism is the confederate flag and how some people feel the true meaning is racism, while others look at the substance of the real problem and know banning a flag will solve nothing.
The real issue with racism is sin and taking way objects or banning flags might pacify some it does nothing to address the actual problem of race relations.
The flag itself is a historical references and symbol to southern pride, rebellion of then the current federal government and the freedom of states and their peoples right to succeed or leave the federal union.
Unfortunately for the south slavery was an important part of their economic development and without slaved labor they would be inferior to the industrial North.
By no means is slavery moral or ethical and not every person who lived in the southern states owned or condoned slavery but many condoned the action of succession and leaving the current union.
In 1992 a Clinton Gore presidential campaign button was designed around the confederate flag, now did this mean the Clintons were trying to sure up all the white racist votes?
Nonsense, being from two southern states the Clinton Gore campaign was showing their southern pride, if they garnered a few extra votes from white power so be it (only joking).
The hysterical and emotional frenzy of the symbolic nature of the confederate flag could be dealt with in two ways. Let the frenzy go on hoping eventually the hysteria will die down and go away and by this time next year no one remembers.
Another way is for our leaders spiritual, academic and political to take control and educate the symbolism and the substance of what the root of the issue is about.
Although thus far a few spiritual leaders have weighed in on the issue we have seen little or no academic presence and the political leadership has been very poor but is that surprising.
Political leaders will only address this issue based on the path of least resistance; they will take the side of which democracy complains the most and do their best not to insult both the symbolic emotional side and the substance side.
To the politician both sides are votes to win from so taking one side or another is a no win game thus making this into a game of winning votes not morally siding with the truth.
This is call this is bad democracy and its at its worst, people need leaders to make decisions based on a republic not a democracy in this kind of setting.
Bad democracy is majority rules regardless the outcome based on self interest. It’s a democracy of many but of selfish interest, either from the many or condoned by the leadership for their own self interest.
While academia sits on its laurels history is being misguided by hysteria. The one institution that should know the soul of the confederate flag says nothing.
The root of the problem is sin, racism is sin and no symbolic gesture to ban or permanent removal of a flag will fix the substance issue of sin.
Politicians tend to avoid sin as a word, finding a good statesman in this day is hard to come by.
If anything politics will run for the aid of science to help define sin in a more politically correct way without using the Bible or God, it’s rarely done but give it time our president is giving it a try right now.
This leaves our spiritual and academic leaders to calm the waters. We are in need of spiritual leaders to confront the root of the sustenance which is sin.
They need to offer the service of dealing with this sin and most of all the healing act of repentance of the sin.
The academics can offer truth in history which should have been done at the grade school level all the way through college.
The combination of calling out the substance of racism as sin with the historical value of truth defining what the substance of the symbolic nature of the confederacy was.
What can the common sense person do, unfortunately the common man is losing his and her grip in this world but stay strong seek and study truth in God.
Study and know the history of this nation. This will not be the last time history will be attacked by symbolic nonsense so be prepared.
2 Timothy 4 2-3(preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with [a]great patience and instruction.3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,)
Not knowing the old will keep us from knowing the present and surly lead our future to fail. Both the Old Testament and the Bill of Right particularly the 2nd Amendment have a bunch in common and can teach us a lot about mankind history, God and country.
The right to keep and bear arms is important right that most Americans take very seriously.
For the most part people that are for and against this right with little in the middle. With those that are against feeling this right the right to keep and bear arms is much like the Bibles Old Testament.
It’s old and does not apply today, it was relevant then but not now society has evolved better and most of all its very violent.
Much like the Old Testament, the 2nd amendment is just as relevant then and now. It holds a very import piece of history in our society and way of life.
To disregard both text would be to change everything, America would be different not better without the 2nd amendment and Christianity would be obsolete and a fraud without the Old Testament.
Statements like Pope Francis “It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit of distrust, doesn’t it?“ become hypocritical in nature since his own money from the Vatican buys guns and weapons to protect him.
Pope Francis is not the only well known face that has made this kind of hypocrisy our federal and state leaders elect do the same.
President Obama and my own state Senator from California Diane Feinstein both have spoken out against private citizens protecting themselves again hypocrisy.
Don’t get me wrong I believe I get what the Pope is saying in a Biblical text way but that way cannot be, it can never be since the day man fell in the garden of Eden.
Although the comment is Marxist in nature and meaning it shows little understanding of historical and spiritual importance of the Old Testament to the nature of man in which led up to the 2nd Amendment to be made.
I will be fare and add that Pope Francis most likely made this a general accusation and not towards one country or one human nature unlike President Obama and Senator Feistein.
The Old Testament and the 2nd amendment both tell a tale of disobedience of man and we can use both to help with the protection of our lives and our societies we live in.
In the Old Testament we are given countless times of disobedience to God by men and by God’s chosen people the Jews. Since the day Adam and Eve fell from grace man has been evil in nature and because of that man has had to arm himself for protection.
No matter if you live in a country like American or a communist country such as North Korea you will always have a moral right to defend yourself from bodily harm. The difference is does the country you live in support your right.
The American framers understood this right, it spurred from many different aspects but they knew this was a right that every citizen needed to be free in this new society.
The American framers saw firsthand what it was like to live in oppressive society and what happened when you disobeyed that form of government.
The Old Testament showed everyone what it was like to live under an oppressive society with God’s chosen people the Jews; the Old Testament also showed everyone what happens when you disobey God.
Understanding the relevance of the Old Testament is crucial to understanding the New Testament just as understanding why the American framers felt so passionate for the right to keep and bear arms be a freedom for every person living in the new world.
For those saying the Old Testament is outdated and not relevant to the new covenant (New Testament, grace and salvation) is truly showing ignorance.
Understand this, Old Testament during the days of Jesus and after his ascending to heaven was a collection of writings put together called the Septuagint in plane it was the Bible of the Jews.
Both Jesus and the saints used this Bible, they wrote the letters of what today we now call the New Testament. If the Old Testament was irrelevant then why would Jesus and the saints use it or quote from it.
For those saying the 2nd amendment is old fashion and relevant only to the war of independence then why was the right to keep and bear arms added to the Bill of Rights after the war of independence?
Without the 2nd amendment how do we think the war of 1812 would have turned out 21 years after the war of independence and 49 years before the civil war; at what time in history did the second amendment become void and who made this call?
To make comments “people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit of distrust, doesn’t it?” is either ignorance to God and history or arrogance to the common man.
One can make the point that Noah is just as guilty for the manufacture of weapons as anyone else.
If Noah had just ignored God and not build the Ark maybe God would have destroyed all mankind and started from scratch with a new and improved man and woman that would be more like a fun loving drone or robot to obey God’s every command.
Should Noah be left out of heaven because he built an ark and saved mankind only to have himself sin and mankind disobey God again and again? That leads to a bit of distrust, doesn’t it?
Why continue with the current model of man, why not scrap that model or heck not make man at all just pretty flowers, birds and maybe some bees.
These argument will rage on I know so I say again know your history both Biblical and what the framers of this country intentions were.
Without knowing the Old Testament we really can’t understand why things happen the way they do. Why God allowed what he did and what his purpose was for and what our purpose is for.
Not knowing and understanding the founding fathers and framers of this country’s purpose of designing the Bill of Rights is pure malicious ignorance on ones self. Without trying to know and understand is to not really love both God and country.
Recently I was listening to Apologetics Dot Com (ADC) podcast where the conversation of the attributes of God where discussed and love being one of many attributes that God possess was part of that discussion.
God’s love is often misunderstood by all of us and if not truly defined Biblically it can twist and pervert quite quickly.
Best way to define God’s love, at least for me anyway is to look at this way. If you had a child that took a metal knife and ran to the electrical socket hoping to see what happens when they jam that knife in, what would you immediately do and what also would you do to convey to that child why jamming a knife into an electrical socket is bad.
Now I can’t speak for any parents in general but I would stop my child very harshly to keep them from hurting them and then I would do what it took to convey that sticking anything in a power socket is a bad thing.
That is what God does for the us, he did it for mankind during Noah’s time, he did it to his chosen people the Jews in their time and he will do the same to you and I in our time.
The question is will we know when he is doing this and will we know how to respond when he does it or will we just chalk it up to a bad day, karma or just bad luck?
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 [b]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Contrast to how we define love in today’s life. Love is pleasure, love is lust, love is desire, love is what I want regardless of what others want, love is me.
This is where we go wrong, we either truly don’t know what love is or our wants and desires get in the way because we either deny God or just conveniently disregard who and what God is.
You wonder why our society is crying right now, why it feels like people are emotionally and morally bankrupt.
Well it’s because we have love wrong and we tend to pervert it at every angle. We pervert it for money, for our own desire, for our own lust and eventually that extends beyond the barriers of our own homes and starts to expand in life outside those who indulge too much.
If you break down 1st Corinthians you get a stark punch in the eye of how we get God’s love wrong.
Love is patient: We lack patience, we want our lust and desires now. US News 2013 reports nearly 48% people 15-33 years of age live together before they get married and 75% lived with their partner at some point in their lives before marriage yet divorce rate of 50% still remains the same, we simply want more than we should because we are inpatient and we think we know more.
Love is kind and not jealous: How many of us get this wrong, we want what we want regardless of whom and what it affects and how kind is that. Jealousy can break you and break a relationship. Again we put our lust and desires ahead of what is best for us and most of all God
Love does not brag and is not arrogant: Do you enjoy those parades that show off love, the TV programs that teach a different kind of love you know or is it just lust for our entertainment that is being showed off.
Arrogance is choosing to ignore what God has described what is best and doing what you think is best. Bragging to everyone about your conquest to the point it’s the norm and not shameful, letting that conquest define you is not love.
Are we so arrogant that we brag we know more than what God has given us; we can define love better than God?
Love does not act unbecomingly: Love is not dishonoring one’s self or someone else; it is not unsuitable or indecent.
Dishonoring our society, or family doing indecent acts against what God has created and described and demanding it to be good or at least tolerated. It is done time and time again, lust and desire trump honoring God, oneself, others and self control.
It does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered: My desire is what I want, love does not do this. I will do what I want to get what I want no matter who gets hurt.
Love does not provoke to get what it wants, love does not get what it wants it is given freely because it’s love.
If you hurt me I won’t love you, if you judge me I won’t love you regardless of what I do or what I want. Love is there regardless of what happens no matter what happens it gives compassion when we make mistakes but firmly reminds to give compassion as well.
Does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth: God made laws, wrote commandments, and describes his love, the contrary is unrighteous. No matter what we do we cannot rewrite what God commands and descriptions but instead we should seek his truth in these matters not excuses to make them okay.
Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things: Love takes on hurt and heals it, it trusts us when we do not deserve to be trusted, it gives hope when all hope seems lost and because of this God’s love endures all things no matter how much we pervert or distort his love, God never stops loving us.
If God is love then 1 Corinthians 13 verses 4-13 is who and what God is. With this kind of unconditional love, can we not try our best to do the same for each other in the name of “God is Love”?
The national Review released a nice article more or less better defining Pope Francis’s stance on climate change and economical equality leaving the Leftist environmental, economic extremist and the Pope in somewhat of a conundrum if you ask me.
Pope Francis over the last few years had made statements that have been surly noted as communist in notion, climate change is the new communism if you don’t feel that way look at the old communism or in that fact both China, North Korea and Vietnam and see the defining attributes they have in common with climate change. Note that climate change is nothing new to the Left, when the Berlin wall fell western communism just found a new place to hide.
Economic Equality has been a topic as well by Francis, from the National Catholic Reporter Carol Glatz reports that the Popes idea of faith and giving go hand in hand something we would all like to see people like Joel Osteen and TD Jakes read and practice.
The issue with this concept is it does not fully understand or fix the poor just that we need to become poor to have faith. I’m always quick to go back on Matthew chapter 26 verse 11.
Now Jesus was explaining more than just the poor to his disciples but it does tells us an undeniable truth, that we will never rid the poor nor the sick they will always be with us. No giving until it hurts will change that, we are not to hoard our money but I don’t think Jesus expects us to go broke trying to fix something that cannot be fixed.
This lays the conundrum for both the Pope and the Left; how fare will they take each other before they are forced to abandon each another on difference of ideology and yes their ideology splits.
Now mind you this is just opinion and conviction from Pope Francis, whether he sees it or not he is embracing communism with his economic and environmental ideology. In my opinion the Pope does see it but wants to change the concept of socialism to his brand or what I would say the true brand of socialism.
Socialism was tried once and it failed when Adam and Eve sinned and God threw them out of the garden. After that socialism has tried and tried as it might, it has even employed the government aka communism and that still has not worked and will never work because of mans inherent will to sin.
I get what Pope Francis is wanting, he and I would make great neighbors but no way in heaven would I vote for him to office.
The conundrum that Pope Francis faces is that yes the Left is all for this, they love what Francis is preaching until he said that being economically equal and environmentally conscious means we must be Pro Life and not with just newborns but with everyone one and thing on this earth and that is where the ideology splits
This is a must and the Pope knows this and has to push this otherwise he loses his Christian credibility. Equality means everyone, young and old regardless of how weak or strong, ignorant or inelegant we must have Pro Life otherwise all this is a lie.
The conundrum for the Left is they know this is a lie and they themselves don’t necessarily live this lie. Don’t get me wrong there are a few uneducated leftist hippies out there that attempt it but few will live it to the end. The educated Left truly does not have equality in mind just power and ignorance and Pro Life cannot be a part of this social experiment.
To the Left Pro Life cannot gel with communism because if makes not only the individual but a government accountable for their misgivings. Yes the government could mandate no abortion, it is not an option, make it illegal and it will care for the unwanted child and the elderly but that opens up a can of who will pay for this and again accountability becomes in play, judgment, sin there is no irrelevance in a world that embraces life.
I believe the Pope would say we the people and the churches of the people will take care of these children and take care of the elderly that have served our society something that use to be and has been lost with an ever intrusive government. So one can see if we allow the government to take care or enforce private organizations to do their bidding the society looses freedom and free will.
The Pope’s communism demands that not only people be accountable but the government is as well and that won’t happen because again we are inherently evil and seek the best way out not God’s way in which is always best but is only from a free will based on a freedom he gives us not the government.
Yes while the Popes communism seems like a wonderful utopia where everybody loves everything it is not only impossible but it no longer allows for freedom and free will. A government cannot enforce free will and freedom it can only protect it.
Again socialism in the Garden of Eden would have worked if sin was not committed, there would be no need for communism because people would be responsible themselves and not seek to cause their neighbor to stumble. Government would have never been in need because with no sin people will not seek to kill, steal and destroy.
Pope Francis’s utopia requires communism because he knows the heart of man, and government is needed to police that heart. Where he fails is his understanding mans inherent nature and he forgets the heart of man. He forgets its man that is the government that will police the heart and actions of man; see the problem it just spins leaving a devastation of corruption, payoffs, crony capitalism, and abuse of power.
The conundrum is this, will Pope Francis’s remarks on Pro Life turn off the Leftist that is needed to enact this communism he dreams of. Will the Left leave the Pope because his communism is not their communism?
Regardless of his social and political clout I believe the Left will sneakingly distance themselves from Pope Francis because of this one disagreement being too great to sacrifice their ideology of relativism.
This is a dangerous path for Pope Francis to travel on, time will only tell if the snares of liberalism will be too much for society to handle even Pope Francis.
In fact with Islam major amounts of disinformation, lies and terroristic brainwashing is continually going on to the point we have a global threat a major cancer in the mist of mankind.
Islam boast more than a billion believers atheist not so much. Atheist rarely threaten with Bodily harm with Islam very much so.
Islam is no religion of peace no matter how much they box it up and package it. Jesus never killed anyone but came to save everyone by sacrificing himself for everyone while Mohammad killed people and Allah did less than Jesus ever did for mankind.
When people leave ISIS, ISIS curses them and sets out to kill them. When a person leaves the church, more times than not they pray for that person.
I’m not saying atheism is a lost cause by no means no way. But realistically at times it’s childish to debate with atheist, humanist, secularists and any other ism that’s out there, that just need to stop listen and start discerning their own beliefs.
Hurling insults and trolling blogs and forums make for an entertaining day for both sides but the reality is Islam is more dangerous. Not only does Islam steal the soul but they kill the body as well.
We still cannot allow scientism or darwinism to control our society it too will result in loss of freedom of the intellectual mind and soul but even with that it may not have any bearing in a society that trades it freedom for a religion of spiritual and physical death.
The atheist belief system gives no future to the next generation. Other than theories and unanswered questions of life and the universe it gives nothing back to society. The only good thing about theories and unanswered questions is these are great tools Christians along with the word of God to give hope to an unbelieving world.
This was my response or complements to a blog via Google Plus written last week “New Atheism Undead Arguments” on basically why the atheism concept is dying.
Atheism gives nothing to the future. The atheist may say no, naturalism gives a future; but at what cost.
Atheism idea of hope demands more environmental regulations, more laws that stifle the economy for again theories and questions that constantly are never answered. Atheism also shuts down debate of free religious ideas whether they be Christian or non Christian but it is quite obvious that Christianity is the target for this attack.
Atheist demand abortion for a world that they claim is over populated and children that are not wanted by anyone yet over hundred thousand children are eligible for adoption and over 19,000 newborns ready to be adopted just in the United States.
It’s no wonder communist love atheism they fit so well together. Communism loves to regulate legislate and confine people to its laws of its government ideas; much like atheism demands that society think and do only their way.(I’m sure they will refute that statement)
Atheistic belief is a bleak one, it offers no forgiveness and little or no redemption so much so few people will fully invest themselves into true atheism, this is why we see the splitting of this faith into denominations like humanism (and its many factions) and secularism but even with these denominations there still is a bleak outlook in that world of naturalism.
