Being a member of a Christian off road motorcycle club you often see people that kind of break out in leadership and that is a good thing, much like a church an organized club especially a Christian one needs leadership and it normally needs more than one person in a leadership role.
Some people in leadership are good at public relations some are good organizers some are good at a little of everything but like everyone they too have a life outside the club so it’s important to have people that will do things in that club.
I have been with RUTS MC (motorcycle club) for almost 30 years now and with RUTS North since the beginning so I have seen people come and go, grow and fall there is always good and bad but what RUTS has stood for over the years has always been good and that has kept me with this fine group of men and women.
I have also seen jealousy pop up now and then over leadership and by enlarge God has protected this club well but it’s never a shock to see people feeling put out or left out over overwhelmed and I hate to see this whenever it happens because if there is one thing I have picked up on or learned over the years is everyone that chooses to be in this organization is important.
Yes sometimes you have to stand up and start the leading process but for the most part most those who want to be with our clubs (RUTS, RUTS North, RUTS Central Coast, RUTS Oregon) end up making an impact whether they know it or not and this is what I mean.
Let us say we have two race bikes, say a 450F and a 300 2stroke, what sets those bikes apart is the engine the heart of the bike. The engine makes the power it makes the bike go it makes all the noise. I’m going to call the two engines Fred and Elizabeth since I don’t know anyone by that name.
Now it takes time to develop those engines, lots of R&D testing to get an engine just how the designer of the bike wants it to work. Two different engines, they put out similar power but react different and respond different but the end results do basically the same thing.
Now when we look at the bike mainly we look at the engine size and that basically gets all the focus. The engine gets a lot of attention for the most part, we can always add to the bike but the engine is really what we are after it’s the heart of the bike.
Everyone that works on and maintains a motorcycle knows yes the engine or the piston is what makes the bike move but there are other parts in that engine that help it move.
One of the important parts that help the piston move is the crank bearings. Without crank bearings it can’t move, most crank bearings are designed with smaller ball bearing that work together to allow the piston to go up and down.
Let us call our ball bearings Doug, Steve and Sue there are more but I’m trying to streamline things and since I don’t know any people by that name I’ll go with it. If Doug, Steve and Sue are not working properly then Fred and Elizabeth won’t work well and the designer of the bike knows this.
When the piston does not work properly the gears on the bike and I will call the gears Greg will not move or allow the forward motion to be enhanced and mind you there are always more than one gear on a bike.
The designer of the bike knows if he does not put in the best long lasting strongest ball bearings in that crank bearing his two pistons won’t last long and the gears can’t be used correctly.
The pistons might seize up, they might explode or just wear out and then the bike is useless and nobody will get anything out of a bike that does not perform well. They will look at this powerless bike and look for another bike or just give up on riding all together.
Those bearings are oh so important to the piston, I know no one sees those bearings because basically they are out of the sites of everyone’s eyes but they are important.
The designer of the bike knows those bearing are important and that is why he put them there because no other kind of bearing could endure the punishment no other gears could handle that kind of stress, pistons can put out power that can be quite awesome.
When the designer of the bike created the bike all the parts he put on that bike was his intent. The bearings the gears and the piston all were chosen for that bike.
Yes the piston gets looked at the most and sometimes that is all that gets noticed at because be honest pistons get a lot of stress and sometimes bikes go through more than one piston. Without the bearings the piston cannot work properly making the gears ineffective and without the piston the bike can’t move people.
The RUTS’s clubs are full of bearings, gears, bolts and pistons that is what makes the club go. If you would like to be a bearing, gear, a bolt or a piston with a RUTS club feel free to ask a club member and they will help you; as a bolt writing this I can tell you first hand this is one bike that is worth being a part of.
Do you know why you are celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day March 17th and do you know who St. Patrick is or is this just a day to dress green and party. I for one knew of the man St. Patrick but had no clue about who he was and what he stood for. I never celebrated the day unless I was forced to in school other than that March 17th was just another day hoping nobody would notice I had no green on.
When I got married my wife had an ambition to visit Ireland and in 2014 we were able to make that goal happen and we took a tour on the Emerald Island. The traveler that I am had me investigate were we would be touring and since we would be spending three days in Dublin it was a must to visit St. Patrick’s cathedral. We were able to visit the church that was built around 1191, very a inspiring to say the least but I still did not understand who St. Patrick was.
It was not until our Irish tour started that our tour guide started telling the story and then I understood why this man was elevated to Sainthood. Later I started to think and I understood why I would celebrate this man but do people in general really understand why they are celebrating him.
Some history of St. Patrick: Born in 378 AD Maewyn Succat from Roman parents in Roman occupied Brittan. Born of nobility Maewyn changed his name to Patrick after becoming a priest.
At age 15 Patrick was kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in Ireland. Patrick was enslaved as a Sheppard for 6 years. Although Patrick was raised in a Christian home his grandfather being a Catholic priest Patrick later said he was not a believer. Prior to being kidnapped he said he was selfish and wanted nothing to do with worshiping God.
During his 6 years of slavery Patrick started to find God, he often practiced fasting to get closer to God. Then Patrick started having dreams of God talking to him. In his 6th year of slavery Patrick said God told him in a dream to escape, at first he thought it was nothing more than a dream but the next night God told him again to escape.
Patrick states he escaped and walked 180 miles to the Irish east coast to find a ship that could take him back home. He states God not only found him a boat but the ship’s captain who for sure had to suspect Patrick was fugitive did not turn him in even though the captain had much to gain to do so.
Even when Patrick’s ship landed in Britain they had to take the cargo in to town by foot. After two days of walking they began to get hungry and scoffed at Patrick saying will not your God find us food. The next day Patrick and the crew ran into wild pigs and food was now available so much so by the time they ran out again they had reach the town.
Patrick was now 21 years of age and instead of staying home where he would have certainly been able to take over the family farm and business decided to go to seminary school to become a pastor.
After becoming a priest Patrick went back to Ireland and started to missionary the same people that bought him into slavery. He converted the pagan druids and Christianized Ireland as we know it.
Now most of us know that St. Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland and folklore has him driving out all the snakes of Ireland but that is no folklore Patrick did drive out the snakes of Ireland.
In Ireland besides birds of prey there are no predators, no wolfs, bears, cats or snakes so what do I mean by Patrick driving out the snakes of Ireland. The pagan druids worshiped many gods and their symbol of their worshiping was of snakes. When Patrick converted the pagans to Christianity he drove out the snakes.
So why do we celebrate and how do we celebrate St. Patrick, understanding what Patrick did its easy for me an American to see why Ireland, Britain and the Catholic church to want and celebrate the achievements of such a great man but if you are not Catholic, Irish, or of the UK why do you celebrate. Is it out of respect for what Patrick did, he forgave the people of Ireland, the pirates that sold him and offered them a chance through God’s grace to receive salvation.
Do you celebrate St. Patrick because it’s a day to drink green beer maybe get drunk and loaded because a lot of other people are doing it.
First understand what St. Patrick was up against when he returned to Ireland to preach the Gospel. Druids were into slavery, human sacrifice, witchcraft, sexuality deviated from the normal and worshipped more than one God pretty much opposite of what St. Patrick and the Gospel stood for. God gave Patrick the ability to learn the language, and then teach and convert the pagans with simple things like teaching the trinity of God by using the three leaf clover.
What I’m getting at is to celebrate a day that remembers a man like Patrick and to celebrate it by doing the opposite of what Saint Patrick stood for is disrespectful.
Today’s St. Patrick day parades are nothing what Patrick could envisioned I suspect. I wonder what Patrick would think of today if he saw some of the parades that are supposed to be honoring his achievements.
I’m not saying one should not celebrate St. Patrick’s Day March 17th if you are not a believer but maybe one might really take the time to know the man and what he stood for to heart.
Maybe have some respect for a man that forgave his captors and gave them a chance to know who the God of the Bible was and the grace that God gives no matter who and what they did.
If you are going to celebrate a man then know who that man is and what he has done. Please do not disrespect St. Patrick by careless disregard of what he stood for. Take the day to remember the man and what God did through him.
ROMANS 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
I was Browsing through Facebook and came across this blog on Christian Bloggers about the 10 most influential people and books in Christianity. Not really sure how the list was made or tallied and it must have been people and books of this century but I figured the persons on the list at some time or another influenced or impacted somebody’s life and it got me to think who influenced me.
I decided to make my own list of people and books that have impacted or influenced me in not only my spiritual Christianity but in my everyday life in general.
Minus the first set people and the last book and person the list is in no particular order but more in the way of how they flew out of my brain. At the bottom I leave a list of the most absurd people that deserve not to influence anyone and in my opinion should be avoided.
People and books that have influenced or impacted me the most
My parents: I have to consider myself very blessed to have had mother and father that led me in the right direction to seek out God.
My parents gave me the foundation that established who and what I am today and where I go from here. Without my parents I wouldn’t be here today typing this up now, and probably would have had a very different world, one I would not be proud of. God bless all those parents that have given their children the truth.
Billy Graham: No matter what is being said or done in the last 40 years in Christianity whether it is good bad or controversial you can always count on the words and actions of Billy Graham. He is the gold standard when it comes to evangelical speakers, movers and shakers of the modern Christian world.
Graham’s message is simple “Salvation” in my opinion salvation is the most important part of Christianity. It is what binds us together whether you are Catholic, Baptists or Assembly of God salvation is what we all agree on and that has been Graham’s message from the beginning.
If you never got a chance to see and hear Mr. Graham speak live you really missed out on something special.
Gary North: Few will know this economics professor or even know he wrote the book entitled Unholy Spirits in my opinion the definitive guide to the occult and supernatural studies on a Christian perspective in the modern era of the 1970’s through the 2000’s.
Many Christian books of the occult or Biblical supernatural phenomenon have been written but none attack the subject in the way the reader now becomes responsible for knowing. I feel this is a must read for any seminary student and for anyone interested in intellectual conversation of the occult, liberal ideology and how both can combine and effectively change society.
North has written two books on this subject the first written in the 1970’s “None Dare Call it Witchcraft” and it was revised in the early 1980’s and retitled “Unholy Spirits”. Although the book is historically out of date on events that preceded the 1980’s mainly communism the concept and subject are as relevant today as they were in the 1980’s.
The book changed my view on how the occult and liberal ideology is approached and how I attack the subjects in written and in conversation.
Hollywood Vs. America: Written by Michael Medved known as a film critic later a conservative radio talk show host and also an orthodox Jew. The book Hollywood Vs. America showed me how the liberalization of Hollywood is corrupting America.
When I read this book in the 1990’s it had impacted my ideas and approach on how the media and entertainment in general can and is influencing society and why we as Christians and conservatives are responsible in doing something about it.
Maewyn Succat: Later known as Patrick you and I know him as St. Patrick. Most know little of St. Patrick and yes this man was a Saint and deserves the title.
St. Patrick was born around 375 AD and his life as a pastor and later a Bishop was in the 400 century AD. Most people just know that March 17th is a day to dress in green drink green beer and celebrate something they know nothing of.
St. Patrick at age 15 was kidnapped by Irish pirate and sold into slavery to pagans in Ireland. He was a Sheppard for 6 years before he escaped. In those 6 years St. Patrick who was raised in a Catholic Christian home considered himself more of a non believer but converted during his years as a slave. He credits God freeing him from slavery and protecting him as he escaped back to Britain.
St. Patrick then when to seminary school became a pastor and decided to return to Ireland to missionary to the same people that enslaved him. Folklore has St. Patrick driving out all the snakes from Ireland in which people know there are no snakes in Ireland but St. Patrick did not drive out the reptile snake but the pagan and druids whose symbol was of the snakes that St. Patrick converted to Christianity.
The fact a man could be stolen and placed in to slavery, escape, forgive his captives and go back to convert them is beyond what many would do. If you have never studied St. Patrick I highly recommend you do it might changed your idea of what March 17th should be about.
CRI Christian Research Institute: Not without some controversy both Hank Hanegraaff and the folks of CRI have built a great organization for people to find information on all things Christianity, Occult, religion and current events.
CRI has stood the test of time they are in my opinion are one of the best places to go for Biblical backed information on Christian doctrine, churches, men and women of God, cults and religions. If you can’t find what you are looking for then feel free to call or email they do respond well.
What I like about CRI is yes they can seem to be straight shooters and accused of judging at times but they back everything up scriptural. Most everything is backed by the word of God some information may be debate and opinion but those are mainly things that are always in debate and are not salvation issues but more of questions that can never truly be answered in definition.
The Bible answer man and CRI helped me personally understand religions other than Christianity and helped define Christian doctrines of today.
Patrick Madrid: If your Catholic or need Catholic based answers then Patrick Madrid is your man. Patrick use to head the Right Here Right Now radio show now done by Chris Aubert. Patrick is kind of the Catholic Bible Answer Man that fully backs every answer and statement with scripture and Biblical fact.
When I found his radio program one day while driving home I was hooked, a bit skeptical at first being protestant I quickly learned a Christian who is saved by grace in the Name of Jesus is a Christian it matters not if they are Baptist, Catholic or Assembly of God. Patrick taught me not to fear Catholics or Catholic doctrine but to embrace their knowledge understand the doctrine and adapt it to mine for what I hope can be a better complete person.
J. Budziszewski: Budziszewski is one of the best on the authority of Natural Law and his book “What we can’t not know” is to one of the best guides written on Natural law. If you don’t know what natural law is your shorting yourself in knowledge and Budziszewski is long on knowledge so much so this book alone should be a required read for every seminary student.
I personally had no clue what natural law was until one day listening to Patrick Madrid radio program he mentioned it, being new to the Right Here Right Now show and again suspect of Catholic understanding I asked CRI to recommend a author on the subject of Natural Law and they recommended Budziszewski.
Thinking CRI would recommend a Protestant writer I was later to find out Budziszewski was born and raised as a Baptist and later converted over to Catholic. He told me personally when he was Baptist he looked more at the Catholic concepts of Christianity and now that he moved to Catholic he now looks at Protestants as having many ideas that are ahead of the Catholic concepts I guess a man of both worlds.
Natural law is my newest study and it has changed my life and ideas on how to approach Christianity. If you can read natural law and grasp it and trust me it can be hard to grasp, I’m still hanging on it will change your life and concepts of God. It won’t change God, his grace and salvation but the way you view how society has pulled away from the ideas of morality, and the way God has set up his love, morality, ethics and the way God expects us to live. The subject has made me better.
This is my list of people and books that have impacted my life personally I write these down in hopes you the reader can think and list your own books and or persons that impact or have impacted your life and if you lack any you might try and give these books or sites a read or a listen.
Ultimately God has to be the one that influences and impacts your life but sometimes we need other people or another set of eyes to put things into perspective.
Ones to avoid: The list is long so I’m just putting a few down that at this time are the most popular in our culture.
Rob Bell: Not only has he sold out to the Oprah doctrine he is currently leading people astray with remarks like “I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life with someone.”
The remark was from when Oprah asked if Bell thought Christians are ready to compromise with homosexuality, the letters from 2000 years ago are the letters of the saints, in the New Testament Bible basically Bell is saying Peter, Paul, Jude, James, John and Luke are irrelevant.
Bell has abandoned the Bible and has made a new doctrine of love yourself as you would want others to love you. Forget the saints of the New Testament is to say the Holy Spirit is irrelevant to today’s world. Don’t even get mixed up with this kind of talk stay away and seek God and a healthy church.
Oprah and OWN: Oprah and her doctrine are nothing short of social and spiritual poison, if you are looking for peace and inspiration try the Bible or a good healthy church.
Joel Osteen: God is not an ATM and you are not being punished for not having a million dollars. I’m not saying Joel is leading people from God but I am saying nothing the Osteen’s say is worth your time unless it’s a choice between Oprah, Rob Bell and Osteen I then would choose Osteen but first I think turning off the TV would be a better choice.
Is President Obama a Christian?
A question that keeps popping up now and then when our President seems to overwhelming give Islam a pass for everyday atrocities while questioning the legitimacy of Christians and Christianity.
So is President Obama a Christian, I do not think he is and if I’m wrong then the President can make his case and prove those of us that feel this way why we are incorrect.
Why can I say no he’s not a Christian, what gives me the right to say this and if the President is not a Christian is he Muslim?
I do not believe our President is Muslim as well, I think he has strong ties and sympathy to Islam but does not practice Islam I believe our President is strong leftest Atheist.
Obama’s father was Muslim as was his grandfather and those are two figures spent a good amount of time in Obama life. His step father was Atheist and he helped raise Obama in his very young youth.
Yes Obama did have drive otherwise there is no way he would have become President but I think the President is somewhat of a lazy man and to take the time and effort to know and practice Islam is something Obama probably would not make time for, golf is very important.
Understanding that Obama’s father was a Muslim he also was a socialist and as we can see by how Obama views the way America should be makes it easy to suspect that our President is a socialist himself. If you understand socialist then you know they tend to embrace the atheist point of view when politics is involved.
I believe Obama was raised an atheist, has strong ties to Islam with his father and grandfather but adding his socialist ideology he never stopped believing in the atheist ideas and it’s an easier way to live a life since atheism is meaningless.
Fast forward to Obama coming to America and going to college, the two collages that he attend Harvard Law and Columbia are very liberal progressive fitting his socialism and atheist views. But he would will have a hard time running for political office with Islamic ties and an atheist ideology so what do you do? Get referred to Reverend Jeremiah Wright, say Wright converted you from Islam and your good everyone loves a good conversion story.
Problem with this is the truth, Wright pastor of the UCC in Chicago is not the kind of pastor that preaches conversion and salvation but rather divides people by race, color and class. If you voted for Barack Obama because he was converted to Christianity well I’m sorry to say you fell for a lie.
Misquotes, yes Obama misquotes God’s word quite often as a matter fact every time he tries to quote the Bible he gets it wrong.
The latest slam on Christianity has Obama telling the world the Christians of today are no better or worse than Islam because of the crusades that took place over 900 years ago I guess he forgot about the reformation age of the church oops Obama did it again.
No Christian with a heart that has been saved by God’s Grace misquotes the Bible over and over again without asking for forgiveness. No Christian that has been saved by God’s grace would condemn his fellow man of something that took place over 900 years ago.
Even if you were not really a Bible pounding Christian like many of our former Presidents before but have expressed their belief in God don’t sympathize with a religion that is opposite of the religion you claim to believe in.
No I do not believe president Obama is a Christian, I don’t think he believes there is a God. I think he has made deals and sympathies with Islam for whatever reason but I have a feeling our President is an atheist that is willing to do whatever it takes by pandering to Christians when it needs to be done and pander to Muslims when that needs to be done all to further his socialist agenda.
Seems like once a year I have to give out this award to somebody or something so considering the apostasy that has been committed Rob Bell is the winner.
Rob Bell has jumped the shark in biblical fashion, who is Rob Bell you may ask or if you watch the OWN channel then maybe you know but if not he’s former Mega Church pastor of Mars Hill in Grand Rapids. Rob bell is now the man at the Oprah Winfrey Network OWN.
Once known as an evangelical in main stream media but let’s face the fact that the main stream media really does not know what true evangelical Christianity is.
